This race focused program works to develop riders technical race related snowboard skills in both a skill based and free-ride environment. Athletes will find themselves on runs, in the park and on specific terrain as the build various snowboard cross and alpine race skills.
Athletes will attend 3-4 events (depending on locations) prior to attending either Snowboard Ontario or Snowboard Quebec's provincial finals.
Speed athletes will be riding on free-ride boards, and soft boots - with possible introduction to alpine equipment late in the season.
Previous athletes have traveled in Quebec, Ontario and BC, including for Canada Snowboard nationals. Current Snowboard Ontario Team athlete Alanna McCormick was one of the first Akademy Ottawa athletes.
Programs are one full day on the weekend and one evening a week, with other optional opportunities for training at $1400 per season.
